Your First Injectable Appointment in Austin: Exactly What Happens

Most people who walk in for their first injectable appointment aren't nervous about the needle. They're nervous about not knowing the script — where to sit, what they're allowed to ask, whether they're about to be upsold, and what the final number on the card will be. None of that is usually explained anywhere before you arrive. So here is the whole sequence, start to finish, including the fees nobody mentions until checkout.

Before you book: choose the consultation, then add your treatments

New clients start with a New Client Consultation — $50, one-on-one with your licensed injector. The important detail is that the $50 isn't a separate expense if you're ready to treat: it applies to your treatment total when the treatment happens the same day. Which is exactly why we ask you to add the services you're interested in while you're booking. If you book only the consult, we may not have the chair time to treat you afterward, and that deposit doesn't carry over to a future visit.

  • A deposit of $50 or more is required to book, for new and current clients alike. It's non-refundable, and it applies in full to your total at checkout.
  • There's a $500 treatment minimum on Fridays and Saturdays for injectables — weekdays have no minimum at all, so a small first treatment is easiest midweek.
  • You have a 48-hour window to reschedule or cancel. No same-day or day-before changes — we book the house full every day.
  • Not ready to come in? A 15-minute Virtual Consultation is also $50 and happens face-to-face from home.

The Good Faith Exam, and why Texas makes us do it

Texas law requires a Good Faith Exam for every new aesthetic injection client before treatment. It's $50, added at your first visit and then once a year after that. It is not a formality we invented to pad the bill — it's the medical review that makes injecting you lawful and appropriate, covering your health history, medications and anything that would change the plan or rule a treatment out. Any med spa in Texas injecting new clients without one is cutting a corner you don't want cut.

The first fifteen minutes are a conversation

Nothing gets injected at the start. We talk, we look at your face in good light, and we usually look at your photos — the ones where you like how you look as much as the ones where you don't. Then your injector maps a plan: which area to treat first, which to leave alone for now, and in what order the whole thing makes sense over the next year.

This is also where we tell you if the honest answer is less product than you came in asking for, a different area than the one you're pointing at, or nothing at all today. That happens regularly, and it's the part of the appointment that keeps our work reading as undetectable injectables instead of obvious ones.

You are allowed to ask who is injecting you, what product they're using and why, how much of it, and what it costs before anyone opens anything. A good injector will answer all four without hesitating. If a consultation ever feels like a sales pitch with a needle at the end, you're in the wrong chair — ours or anyone else's.

What usually gets treated on day one

First visits tend to be conservative and specific rather than a full plan executed at once. Toxin is priced per unit here: $6 per unit for Dysport and Daxxify, and $10 per unit for Botox, Xeomin and Letybo. So a typical 20-unit area works out to $120 on the value tier or $200 on the premium tier. If you're treating more than one area, The House All-You-Need Tox covers the full upper face for $399.

  • A first lip appointment is commonly $599 for 0.5ml — deliberately subtle, with room to build later.
  • A single structural area like chin or cheeks is usually $750 for 1ml.
  • A lip flip, brow lift or nose tip lift is $100 — the smallest way to try toxin.
  • Masseter treatment for jaw clenching and slimming is $500.

Treatment itself is quicker than people expect. The mapping takes longer than the injecting, which is the right ratio.

The follow-up is part of the appointment, not an upsell

Every new client gets a follow-up, and so does anyone starting a new treatment — it's how we check how everything settled and refine if needed rather than hoping it landed. A Tox Follow Up is $50 and a Filler Follow Up is $50, applied the same way the consult deposit is. Toxin takes up to about two weeks to show its full effect, and filler needs time for swelling to resolve, so judging either on day three isn't a fair test.

What happens at your first Botox appointment?

You start with a New Client Consultation ($50, applied to same-day treatment), complete the Texas-required Good Faith Exam ($50 at your first visit, then annually), talk through your goals and history with your injector, and get a mapped plan before anything is injected. If you added treatments when you booked, treatment follows in the same visit, then a follow-up to assess how it settled.

Do I need a consultation before Botox or filler in Austin?

Yes for new clients — both because we want to map a plan rather than guess, and because Texas requires a Good Faith Exam before aesthetic injections. Book the consult and add the treatments you're considering on the same appointment so there's time to do both.

What is a Good Faith Exam and why do I have to pay for it?

It's the medical evaluation Texas law requires for all new aesthetic injection clients — a review of your health history and anything that would affect whether and how you should be treated. It's $50, charged at your first visit and once a year after that, and it applies to your same-day treatment total.

How much should I budget for a first injectable visit?

It depends entirely on what you treat. Toxin runs $6 to $10 per unit depending on the brand, a full upper-face toxin package is $399, a first lip appointment is commonly $599, and one syringe of face filler is $750. Add the $50 Good Faith Exam at your first visit, and remember the $50 consult applies toward same-day treatment.

Can I get treated the same day as my consultation?

Usually yes, as long as you added the treatments when you booked so the time is reserved. If you book the consultation alone, we often won't have the chair time to treat afterward, and the deposit doesn't transfer to another day.

What if I change my mind at the consultation?

That's a completely normal outcome and it's part of why the consult exists. You're never obligated to be treated, and there are plenty of visits where our recommendation is to wait, start smaller, or address something else first.

The short version

Book the consultation, add the treatments you're curious about, expect a Good Faith Exam at your first visit, and come with photos and questions rather than a product name you saw on TikTok. The appointment is mostly conversation, the plan should be built around your face and your budget in the same breath, and you should leave knowing what you paid for and when you're coming back.

Ready when you are.

Every plan starts with a conversation — no pressure, just a look at what would suit you. Book a consult or text us at (512) 487-6849.
